I’m Engaged…Now What??

The day you’ve always dreamed about has finally arrived! You are now engaged to the love of your life, and you can’t stop thinking about your incredible future. Then, your state of newly engaged bliss subsides when you realize the daunting task of actually planning your wedding. No need to panic. My blog will walk you step by step through the entire planning process giving you tips and tricks along the way to make your event seamless and prevent bridezilla from poking her head out. The most important first step in planning your event is to hire a local wedding coordinator and organize your ideas.

HIRE A LOCAL WEDDING COORDINATOR

The best piece of advice I can give you is to hire a local, professional wedding coordinator to assist with all the details. Not only will they have lots of ideas and suggestions, a local planner will know all the ins and outs about the area.

I am a coordinator in Corpus Christi, Texas, and most of my brides prefer beach weddings. However, non-local brides don’t realize how the wind and humidity can affect their wedding day plans.  Because I deal with nature’s elements here on a regular basis, I have lots of advice to help my brides navigate how to best implement their ideas.

Even if you are on a tight budget, I still recommend hiring a wedding coordinator. Most planners have different service options and can help you with just the day of planning or vendor recommendations. A local planner’s advice is invaluable, especially if you are planning a wedding somewhere you don’t live. Coordinators will work with you and advise you how best to allocate your spending even with the tightest of budgets.

ORGANIZE YOUR IDEAS

Start a folder or binder to keep all your materials and ideas organized. It can be a physical folder, or if you’re dealing mostly with digital material, a folder on your electronic device. This helps to streamline the planning process. You can even start a Pinterest board and post ideas, color schemes, florals, etc. that appeal to you. Any information you collect will help your coordinator get a feel for your vision for your event.

Whether you keep your ideas digital or in print, make sure to always have them handy. Now that you are in planning mode, you will constantly see ideas and get advice that you will want to remember. If you start off organized and keep all the information in one place, you will save yourself a lot of stress and headache throughout the planning process.

Congratulations on your engagement! Happy planning!
